The villa takes its inspiration from a simpler time. It harks back to the ruggedness, practicality and ethos of hard work of those who pioneered this region. With the character of a historic stone farm building that has been converted into a home, it sits in a private vineyard on the banks of the Shotover with commanding views north across the Shotover River to Coronet Peak and the surrounding mountains.
Only traditional building materials have been used - stone, rough sawn timber, iron, concrete - to create a unique spacious luxury home that is at the same time unpretentious, easy and comfortable. Warmed through underfloor heating, a large open fireplace and the insulation of walls nearly 3 feet thick, the house enjoys all day sun, in both summer and winter, and is protected from the cold southerly by the hills directly behind.
Shotover Point has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with one bedroom featuring a fold out sofa which can sleep an extra guest if required.
The generous kitchen, dining and living room (with an impressive high ceiling) opens out onto a north facing patio which sits amongst the private vineyard. The outdoor area features a private spa pool and outdoor fireplace - perfect for those still frosty nights and magical in the long Queenstown summer evenings. The garden also gives direct access to the riverside walking trail via a private footpath for those guests who enjoy a casual morning stroll amongst Queenstown's beautiful scenery. Spectacular views from every window, no neighbours, and only the sound of the river and the odd jet boat to disturb the silence allow you to think you are miles from anywhere in this magical part of God's own country. Yet you are only 10 minutes from the shops and cafes of Frankton and the Queenstown airport.
Shotover Point is a delightful vacation rental that is guaranteed to make you feel at home from the moment you step through the beautiful solid wooden doors.
